Our Dad, William V. Micus of Southgate, Michigan went to heaven on Wednesday, August 29, 2024 at the age of 89, surrounded by his beloved wife Theresa Futvoye-Micus and his children Kathryn Ann Syjut and Peter William Micus.
Our father went to work everyday regardless of his surrounding circumstances - for the airline industry starting in 1958. He loaded airplanes for a living and was strong as an ox - able to life 45 lb luggage above his head all day. He “grunted” when he arose from a seat - our entire lives - so we could eat as children.
He was a “hands-off” father whom let life and living be the teacher. His greatest gift to his children was teaching us to be self-sufficient very young.
The love of his life was his wife of many decades, Terry. Together they traveled, never missed church, and donated their time and money to many causes.
My father was a humble person whom found solace in jazz, a good ballgame and an adult beverage, and that’s how he passed in peace. He will be missed.
He was a devoted husband to Theresa Futvoye-Micus. Father to Peter William (Dr. Kimberly L.) Micus and Kathryn Ann (David) Syjut. Dear grandfather of Joseph Louis Micus, Paul Scott Micus, Vincent Edward Micus, Isabel Louise Micus, John Dennis Darmody, Brittany Kathryn , and Mary Elizabeth Darmody and great-grandfather of Hailee Miller and Richard Miller. Caring brother of Robert Micus (Barb Ollesheimer), Charles (Charlotte) Micus, and Patricia (John) Melton. William was preceded in death by his parents Willam and Mary Micus. He will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 10915 Allen Road, 48101. William will lie in state at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 14101 Superior, Southgate, MI 48195 on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, the Downriver Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors outside of church to honor William’s time served with the United States Army. William will be inurned at Mt. Elliott Cemetery in Detroit at a later date
