A video tribute will be added, please check back. William Samuel Granger was born on August 29, 1936 in Saginaw, MI; he was the son of Blanche Barber Granger. Bill died on October 25, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital Trenton at the age of 83; he was of Flat Rock. His family wishes to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Nursing Staff of the 5th floor at Beaumont Trenton. On November 17, 1990 Bill married the love of his life, Modena Fuson Ramsey at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church. To cherish his memory, Bill leaves his wife Modena; his 3 children Robin (Blake) Farnsworth of Flat Rock, MI, Donny (Michelle) Ramsey of Lexington, TN and Dena Tackett of Flat Rock, MI; his grandchildren Sarah, Casey, McKenna, Collin and Alaina; his great grandchildren Joziah and Braxton; his sisters Barbara Elliott of Saginaw, MI, Shirley Burns of Merrill, MI and Nancy Mau of Hemlock, MI and one brother Edison Granger of Michigan City, IN as well as many other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his mom, Blanche Barber Granger; brothers Richard Granger and Cameron Granger and his brothers-in-law Jim Elliott, Jim Burns and Richard Mau Bill proudly served his Country in the United States Army; he enlisted at the age of 17 and was a paratrooper in the 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment. During his service he made 135 jumps. Bill was a truck driver for 35 years. Later in his life he was a building official for Berlin Twp., Ash Twp., the Village of Carlton and Brownstown Twp. which is where he retired from. One of his projects he was most proud of was the Henry Ford Ambulatory Care Center in Brownstown Twp. He loved spending time with his family, including his little buddy Brinkley, their cockapoo. He also loved fishing, camping, watching U of M football games and going to eat at Baldos. Visitation is on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 2 – 9 pm at The Ford Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 23620 North Huron River Drive, Rockwood. A service to celebrate his life will be on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 11 am at the funeral home; Pastor Larry Head of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Bill will be buried at Riverside Cemetery in South Rockwood with Military Honors to be given by the Downriver Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions to honor Bill’s life may be made to the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
