William Randolph Martin, Jr., age 89, of Trenton, MI, passed away peacefully at home with family and friends surrounding him on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Born August 30, 1933, in Stamford, Connecticut, William was the son of William Randolph Martin and Mary Helen Martin (Gaipa). After graduating from Stamford High School, he served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. His assignments took him from Korea to the Selfridge Airforce Base. He married the love of his life, Sarah Louise McCarron, of River Rouge, in 1957. He attended Wayne State University and had a successful career in Sales, most recently as a Territory Manager with Bonne Bell Cosmetics.
William was a faithful member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Trenton, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and on various committees. He loved life and everything it offered. He loved to read, fish, travel, exercise, and work in their yard, but nothing was closer to his heart than God and his family. Spending time with each of us, talking, telling stories and jokes, and having fun were his greatest joys, as were ours. We are each better for having known and loved him. He will be dearly missed.
William leaves, to cherish his memory, his wife Sarah, his three children Katherine Huber (Don) of Grosse Ile, Kimberly Martin (Carl Borghi) of Northville, William Martin (Cindy Worley) of Spring Lake, his four grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Huber, and Ashley and Carter Martin-Borghi, Cindy’s children, Brandy and Schuyler, his nephews and nieces Gary Hunt (Monique), Kerry Bulson (Frank), Stanley Richards (Karen), David Richards (Mary), Edith Kalminski (Dale), Ruth Cappella (Frank), and Linda VanBrabant, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. William was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Hunt (William), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
If you prefer, in lieu of flowers, please consider a tribute donation in William’s
name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
