Bill Alvis, Jr. of Allen Park, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the age of 60. Beloved husband of 33 years to Danielle Alvis. Loving father of Kayla (Christopher) Dunham, Kyle Alvis, and Brendan Alvis. Cherished grandpa and papa of Noah and Walker Dunham, and Louis and Ottilie Alvis. Dearest son and son-in-law of William, Sr. and Jean Alvis and Ron and Beverly Lamendola. Caring brother and brother-in-law of Greg (Jody) Alvis and Troy (Mary) Sorrels, Rhonda (Eric) Rasmussen, and Randy (Nisa) Gibbons. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and friend to all. Bill was loved and important to so many. He loved to be a part of the party; whether it was cooking a meal that “Chicks in New York would pay top dollar for”, guiding and molding boys into men through his 20+ years coaching hockey in his community, golfing and sharing a drink with his buddies and the MBCA, telling a joke to make others laugh (or sometimes cringe), spending time with those he loved on many trips, hockey tournaments, family reunions up north at ‘The Farm’, Detroit Tigers fantasy camps where he “Hit a homerun off of Mickey Lolich”, swimming in oceans and lakes, and being immersed in the beauty of God’s creation. Bill’s greatest accomplishment was his family. Nothing meant more to him than being with the love of his life, soulmate and best friend “Dani”. Together they built a family that was filled with so much love, frequently expressed with a back rub. His children filled him with pride and joy. He loved every second of raising them, creating cherished memories and preparing them for life’s challenges. His grandchildren blessed him beyond measure, and their laughter filled him with joy. As a son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandpa he taught those around him the meaning of unconditional love. Bill leaves a legacy of good drink, better food, loyalty and devotion to loved ones, and peace and comfort of simply being together. A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 10915 Allen Road. The memorial service will take place that same evening at 6:00 p.m. Please visit Bill’s online tribute wall to share memories and leave condolences.
