William George Cabell

December 2, 1934 - March 12, 2024

Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, Bill was a proud graduate of Huntington East High School and Marshall University. After service in the United States Army, Bill joined the Veteran’s Administration, where he enjoyed a 40 year career, retiring in 1997 as the Chief Fiscal Officer at the John D. Dingell Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Bill was a man of many interests and shared a robust retirement with family and friends. He raised beautiful roses, developed an affinity for photography, and spent quality time at his home on Jekyll Island, GA. He faithfully attended the baseball Grapefruit League each spring, following the Detroit Tigers around Florida! He remained an avid baseball fan throughout his life, rooting proudly for both the Cincinnati Reds and the Detroit Tigers.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, daughter Peggy (the late Stephen) Chapo, stepdaughter Carole (Andy) Amason, stepson Michael (Rochelle) Greene, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His generosity and humor will be missed by all who knew him.
