William “Bill” J. Guilder, of Allen Park, passed away April 21, 2023. Beloved husband of Janet for 70 beautiful years. Loving father of Susan (Paul) Guerriero, Jill (Walt) Yakima, Bill Jr., (Brenda) Guilder, Julie (Norm) Chavka and Carol (Evan) Varvatos. Cherished papa of Douglas (Krista), Melissa (Matt), Kristyn (Louie), Mike (Eva), Scott (Sarah), Katie (Derek), Craig, Billy III, Chelsea (Eddie), Brandon, Madison and Alyssa. Proud great papa of Jenna, Jordyn, Mino, Leah, Stella, Charlotte, Sloan, Landry, Jack, Lennox, Ivy, Owen, Cash, Sonny and Cole. He is preceded in death by his brother, Percival Guilder, as well as his parents, Percival and Fannie Guilder. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Bill graduated Cass Technological High School in the class of 1948. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserves. He worked at Detroit Edison for 41 years as an overhead lineman before retiring. He enjoyed being outside and hunting season. He was gifted with talent when it came to woodworking and stained-glass. He was very much involved in the Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes – Allen Park Chapel on Wednesday April 26, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place the next morning at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill to the Red Cross or Salvation Army.
