Vincent Borbely, age 88 of Maybee, passed away January 28, 2022 at his home under the care of his family and Elara Hospice. Born February 17, 1933 in Szany, Hungary, Vincent was the son of Istvan and Theresa (Gasztonyi) Borbely. He served two years in the Hungarian Military before immigrating to the United States in 1956. He married Maria Domotor in Kony, Hungary on September 16, 1967. Vincent was a carpenter with the carpenter’s union and helped to build Fermi as well as many homes in Monroe county. He loved gardening and would proudly take friends and neighbors on a tour of his expansive gardens and orchard. Vincent's most treasured times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. You could often find him sharing a cookie or a piece of candy with his grandkids while telling them stories about his life in Hungary. Vincent leaves to cherish his memory, Maria, his wife of the past 54 years; children: Steve (Melissa) Borbely and Susan (Todd) Stoner; grandchildren: Elise Borbely, Emma Borbely, Elena Borbely, Ean Borbely, Clerissa Fink, Catrina Stoner and Cassandra Stoner; great-grandchildren Jaxon Fink, Jeorge Fink, Judge Fink and Dexter Fink; as well as three siblings: Theresa (Imre) Farkas, Antal (Maria) Borbely and Rosika (Joseph) Szabo. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Janos Borbely and Istvan Borbely. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Elara Hospice for the excellent care that they gave Vincent.
