Vernon "Tody" Massengill

Click on the tribute wall above to view Vernon’s video tribute. Vernon Lorene Massengill, age 90 of Wyandotte, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones Saturday July 3rd, 2021. She was affectionally known by her nickname, “Tody”. Born October 9th, 1930 in Speedwell, Tennessee to the late Ulis Dunn and Ethel Harvey. On September 3rd, 1945, Vernon married her love Homer Massengill. Together they raised 8 children. Another important date in Vernon’s life was when she was Baptized on October 6th, 1996. That same year, she retired after 30 years of employment at Riverside Hospital in Trenton, where she worked as a housekeeper. Loving wife of the late Homer. Dear mother of Jewel (Carl) Martin, Judith Hall, Dennis (Rebecca), Barry, Robert, and the late Edward, Delores, and Shirley. Proud grandmother of Jeffery Martin, Valarie Blezinski, Christopher Martin, Lori Harper, Tammy Engle, Tracey Vallie, Kevin Martin, Jerry Martin, Dennis Martin, Jamie Lefebvre, Tina Bertino, Nicole Hubble, Dennis Massengill Jr., Ashley Burkhart, April Enderich, Maxine Osborne, Timothy Massengill, 42 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, son, and daughters, Vernon was preceded in death by many close friends. Visitation will take place on Monday July 5th, 2021 from 1:00pm-8:00pm, Funeral Service Tuesday July 6th, 2021 10:00am, all at the Trenton Chapel- Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd.
