Val was born in Harlan County Kentucky on May 20, 1938 to Lawrence and Viola (Turpin) Jones. She was the youngest of six children. Val married her fellow Evarts, KY schoolmate and life-long love Jim Toby on May 26, 1956. Val is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Toby, son Jimmy Toby (wife Kim), daughter Kimberly Tomaszewski (husband Leo) and granddaughter Valerie Dulmage (husband Jonathan). Val was a long-term member of the Lincoln Park Church of Christ. At one time, she worked as the church secretary and she was active in several church groups. Val enjoyed many crafts, including sewing, cooking for her family and others, and cake decorating. She enjoyed a large circle of friends and took great pleasure maintaining these relationships. She has provided us with many wonderful and loving memories. Although she is no longer with us, her love, wisdom and unwavering support will always be with us, and she will always be in our hearts. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. The family has requested that everyone wear a mask for the visitation and service. The committal service at the cemetery will be private.
