Valery Sergei de Beausset, 94, of Grosse Ile, Michigan died on October 18, 2009 at home.Valery de Beausset was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on February 13, 1915, the son of Serge Nicholas and Anna Petrova de Beausset. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Haverford College in 1938 and Post-Graduate engineering degree at the State University of New York. During World War II he served as Captain with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1944-1946. On June 3, 1944, he married Constance Lee Stanton of Grosse Ile, Michigan. From 1946-1948, Valery worked for Intercontinental Corporation in Travancore,India building a fertilizer factory. From 1948-1958 he was the director of the engineering division of The J.G. White Engineering Corporation for the economic development of China. When Shanghai fell to the communists, he moved his team to Taiwan and his family joined him there. He was decorated with the Nationalist China's (Taiwan) Order of the Brilliant Star in 1957. From 1967-1974, Valery was a consultant for the development of Mexico, Bolivia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica and advisor to the president of the Central American Bank of Economic Development. From 1979-1988 he was consultant for Agency for International Development to the government of Honduras for rural development. He retired on Grosse Ile in 1988. In 2007 a documentary film was produced by the National Taiwan University Library of Taipei, Taiwan of his work in that country. He is survived by his wife Constance, 4 daughters, Indira, Lee-Tai, Valerie and Denise; a son, Alexander and 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
