Thomas Peter Dankow

Thomas Peter Dankow left this world on Monday - July 11th surrounded by his family. He was 75 years old. Tom was a proud husband of Shirley Dankow, father of Mark (Katy) Dankow of Blacklick, OH and Pamela Wall (James) of Fort Wayne, IN. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Marian Dankow and brother-in-law Andy Kandea. He is survived by his children Mark and Pamela, Lynn (Matt) Griffor and Nathan Alexander, grandchildren Ben, Chloe & Luke Dankow, Amy & Anna Wall, Donovan & Claire Borg, and siblings Susan Kandea and Richard (Ruth) Dankow. Tom served our great country in the U.S. Navy, then was a career electrician for Detroit Edison where he began working at 17-years old shoveling coal for the blast furnaces. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor with 41 years of dedicated service. Family was a top priority for Tom and Shirley, and they drove across the Midwest to show loving support at baseball, softball and football games as well as track and gymnastics meets. Tom was an avid outdoorsman, motorcycle rider and a member of the Flat Rock Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing on the Great Lakes, hunting Up North and chasing down big game out west with his friends. He and Shirley also went on numerous camping trips with family here in Michigan, Northern Indiana and on the Gulf of Mexico. Tom was a great, hard-working man who put his family first and will be deeply missed. We know he will be looking over us and guiding our path. Services are at Martenson Family of Funeral Home - Trenton Chapel: Thursday: 5:00-8:00 pm (Visitation) Friday: 10:30 am (Visitation), 11 am (Service), 12:30 pm (Burial), 2:00 pm (Celebration of Life) American Legion Post 426 on West Jefferson immediately following burial.
