Thomas George Hoffmann was born November 9, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away May 12, 2020. Tom was the third of seven children to Duane and Doris Hoffmann. He spent his early years in Dearborn Heights, but spent the vast majority of his wonderful life in Dearborn, Michigan. To know Tom was to love Tom. He had a warm smile that could light up a room or lighten the mood at a difficult moment. Tom always put other people’s needs in front of his own. He loved his family and friends with a full heart. He sacrificed so much of himself to care for his mother and father in their later years. His dedication was beautiful. It was not easy. It lasted for years, but Tom did whatever he could to make things better for them. He loved his mother and father so much, there is no doubt they were the first ones to greet him in Heaven. Tom was an incredible brother to Mike, Bob, Laura, Don, Duane, and Pat. He brought so many laughs and happy times to family gatherings. His commentary during family slide shows was legendary and always filled the house with laughter. He could drive you crazy one minute, but give you that special Tom look and it would melt you every time because he was so genuine with his love. Tom loved his four nieces like they were his own children. Kimberly, Heather, Melissa and Selena brought him so much joy you could see the pride all over his face. Tom was always so happy spending time with his brother Duane’s dogs. Zeus, Dakota, Moose, and Bear were on the receiving end of so much love. Dogs probably understood Tom better than anyone because they give unconditional love and that’s exactly how Tom lived his life. Tom was passionate about sports and loved rooting for his Michigan Wolverines and all Detroit sports teams. He was an incredibly hard worker who always stood up for his co-workers to voice concerns about safety and other issues. Tom was many things to many people. If he touched your life once, you were fortunate. If he touched your life daily, as he did many, you were truly blessed. In closing, Thomas George Hoffmann was most at peace when he was out on a lake with a fishing rod and a few of his brothers and friends. His middle name George is for his grandfather George Carnecke who was an avid fisherman. No doubt the two of them will be catching up very soon on the most beautiful lake. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Duane and Doris. He is survived by his siblings Mike, Bob (Margaret), Laura (Dave Ksiazek), Don (Beth), Duane (Kerrylynne), and Pat (Dawn Chandler). His nieces Kimberly Ksiazek, Heather Osminski (Dave), Melissa Ksiazek, and Selena Hoffmann. His great nephew Alexander Osminski and great niece Kaitlyn Osminski. We will dearly miss our brother. Our uncle. Our friend. Rest in Peace Tom. You were the best!
