Thomas Ezra Wallace, “Bud” of Gibraltar MI passed away August 23, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Roberta May “Bobbie” Wallace. Loving father of Mary Lee (Jeff) Langmeyer, the late Juelene “Julie” (Roy King) Wallace, Thomas D. Wallace (Susan McInchak) and Stacey Wallace. Cherished grandfather of Heather Langmeyer, Michael Wallace, Ashley McInchak, and Heather (David) Snead. Proud great grandfather of Michaela Wallace, Mackenzie Wallace, Charlotte Wallace, and Brady McInchak. He is preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Oma Wallace as well as his three sisters, Betty, Beau and Jewel.
Tom married the love of his life, Roberta Finch, July 1, 1950. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp, 1st Marine Division, 7th Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Fox Company in Korea. A machine gunner who fought bravely against communism and survived the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir and became a member of the “Frozen Chosin.”
A Gibraltar resident for 63 years, he loved spending time with his friends every morning and evening for breakfast and dinner. He was the last surviving founding member of the Rock of Gibraltar VFW Post 4230, East Rockwood MI where he loved to buy a round of drinks and play the lottery, especially pull tabs. He was also a poet, lyricist, and an author.
Visitation will take place at Martenson Funeral Home – Ford Chapel on Thursday August 31, from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Friday September 1 from 1:00 pm- 9:00 pm. The funeral service will take place Saturday September 2 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately following at Gibraltar Cemetery.
