Thomas Bruce Smereka

Smereka, Thomas Bruce, July 17, age 58, of Grosse Ile, MI. Tom is survived by his mom Norma, brothers Billy and Tony, and sister Diane. Tom was preceded in death by his father William Sr. and his sister in law Jill. He was also loved by his nieces Lexi and Josie; nephews Jon (Sara) and Scott; his grandnephews Henry and Charlie; and Tom’s many friends and other family members. Tom was a determined individual, after his first bout with a brain tumor he returned to college and attained a BBA in Accounting with Honors. Tom was an avid boater and built his own kayak in which he spent many days floating down the Trenton Channel and Lake Erie. He especially enjoyed his annual trips to Indian River kayaking and tubing, and spending time with friends from Grosse Ile High School who he remained close.
