Theresa M. Elkins

Theresa was born on December 27, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan and died quietly, peacefully and painlessly surrounded by her family on October 28, 2017 at her home in Southgate at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Chester. Loving mother of Christopher (Jennifer) Elkins, James Bates, Gary (Brenda) Bates and Charles (Julie) Bates. Proud grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 19. Dearest sister of Bernice (Ralph) and Ethel (the late Ross). Also survived by her nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Bernice Smith as well as one grandson James, Jr. Theresa loved to travel and visiting old grave yards; she also loved to collect salt and pepper shakers. A public committal service is on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
