Thaddeus “Ted” Skrocki of Allen Park, Michigan passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the age of 90. Son of Mathew and Antonina Grabowska. Devoted husband of almost fifty years of the late Nancy Skrocki. Cherished father of Cynthia Arnold (the late Peter Stahl) and Tracey Kemp. Loving brother of Agnes Szatkowski and dear uncle to his siblings’ children. Dearest grandfather of Virginia Alcala and Kristina Van Slyke and great-grandfather of Alexis, Celia, Lilliana, Peiton, Kayla, Adalynn, Jonathan, Myles, and Eli.
Ted was known for taking care of his family; as a reliable friend to many, always willing to lend a hand; hard-working and clever about the most practical things; straight-forward and opinionated, speaking up for common sense, a high standard of competence and justice; humble and profoundly honorable in his own special way. Ted will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Ted was an expert auto mechanic; he worked for all of the major auto companies during his long career, was a UAW member, and proudly retired from Ford Motor Co. after thirty years of service. He served his country in the United States Army and participated in the proceedings of his home city of Allen Park. Ted loved to travel and see new places, especially taking long scenic rides with his wife Nancy.
Visitation for Ted will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family Funeral Home located at 10915 Allen Road. The funeral service will be held that evening at the funeral home at 5:30 pm, followed by military honors by the Downriver Veteran’s Honor Guard at 6:00 pm. Interment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
Ted’s family great appreciates if you would please visit the online guestbook and add your memories and stories so that we can better capture the special character of this one-in-a-billion guy.
