Thad 'Iggy' Jones

Sunrise 7-10-41 Sunset 12-23-17 Thaddeus Stevenson Jones was born to Sadie Royals and Thaddeus Jones on July 10, 1941. Thaddeus affectionately known to his friends and family by his nickname, "Iggy", grew up in Ecorse, Michigan. Iggy was educated in the Ecorse Public School system. After high school Thaddeus enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He then pursued a career as a registered x-ray technician at the veteran's hospital and Detroit Receiving Hospital until his retirement in 1999. Iggy's character was stern and immovable, some would almost consider him stubborn. LOL! Some of his loves, besides the well known butter beans and meatloaf were women and money. Iggy had an infectious smile and an opinion on most things. He also enjoyed education and hard work. He was a generous man but was often known to get change from a penny. After retirement, Iggy resided in Annapolis Park, where he built a comfortable life for himself. While in Annapolis Park he formed many lasting friendships with his neighbors. For many, Iggy was known as the "Annapolis Park neighborhood watch". He enjoyed summer days by sitting on the porch talking to neighbors. He especially liked talking to Ron-Ron, Mr. Troy, and Mr. Cox as well. Neighborhood children often stopped by to visit him too. Thaddeus was preceded in death by his mother Sadie, father Thaddeus, Step father Chester and sister Debbie. He is survived by his children: Heather McClendon, Chatase Jones, Dr. Euphemia, Gans and Leon Richardson; niece Nina Gunn; three grandchildren Robert McClendon Jr., Leona Richardson, Treasure Gans; and many friends. As daddy would often say; Oh yeah, one more thang: A letter from Heaven When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see, if the sun rises and finds your eyes, filled with tears for me I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, while thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you. And, each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're apart, for every time you think of me, I'm there in your heart.
