Terry Michael Gunnell, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his
loved ones on November 18th , 2024.
Born to James and Carolyn Gunnell, the Gunnell family included his surviving siblings,
David (Alfie) and Richard (Lisa). Terry is also survived by his wife Vickie and his first
wife Gymme.
Terry is also survived by his daughter, Guinevere (Marcus), grandchildren Corbinn,
Ella, and Cameron, son Timothy (Brian) and a stepson, Steven (Gregory).
Terry served our country in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He began his service
in Security Police and then as a communications specialist. He was very proud of his
service, as were his loved ones. He was stationed in places like California, Germany,
and Greece during his service and the memories were shared often with family.
Terry received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan with a focus on
history after his time in The Air Force.
He continued to serve as a volunteer at the Michigan Flight Museum and Air
Adventures as a docent and in many other ways.
He was heavily involved in The Boy Scouts of America in his 30’s and 40’s.
Terry also volunteered for Wyandotte Animal Shelter at adoption events and
fundraising events. He especially loved his time dressing up as Santa for pet pictures.
He and his wife, Vickie, were also fosters for cats and kittens, getting them ready for
adoption.
During his time as a volunteer, Terry touched an incredible number of hearts at the
museum and helped to save many lives at the shelter.
Terry loved camping, completing old war era models like planes and tanks, and his
animals.
A Celebration of Life for Terry is being planned for late February 2025 to allow for
everyone to enjoy their holidays. Details will be posted on Facebook and
communicated in additional ways when the details are finalized.
Donations may be made in his name to the Museum or Wyandotte Shelter as seen below with links.
