Sue Magee, a beloved mother, dedicated caregiver, and passionate advocate for both people and animals, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 after a long battle with glioblastoma. A fixture at Odette Chiropractic for 40 years, Sue’s warmth and unwavering support made a lasting impact on her colleagues and the countless patients who entered the practice seeking care.
Beyond her professional life, Sue devoted herself to the Animal Resource Funding Foundation, serving on its board with the same commitment and compassion she showed in all aspects of her life. Her love for animals was matched only by her affection for nature, particularly bird watching and exploring the beauty of lighthouses.
Growing up on a farm, Sue developed a lifelong passion for horseback riding, which brought her immense joy and connection to the outdoors. She cherished her vacations up north, especially in Kalkaska and Johannesburg, MI, where she created lasting memories with family and friends.
Sue was a devoted mother to her three biological children, but her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family—thousands knew her as "Mom." She was affectionately called "Aunt Sue" and "Grandma Sue" by a handful of extra special little ones in her life, further testament to her boundless love. For 15 years, she took care of her own mother, exemplifying her selfless nature and commitment to family.
An avid gardener, Sue found joy in nurturing her plants as much as she did in nurturing the people in her life. Her garden was a testament to her care and dedication, blooming with life just as she bloomed in the lives of those she touched.
Sue had a special love for dogs, particularly her beloved companions, Buffy, Bear, and Moose, whose wagging tails brought her joy and comfort. Known for her sweet tooth, she never missed an opportunity for dessert—whether it was a homemade pie, a simple scoop of ice cream, or her favorite, chocolate, she believed that every day deserved a little sweetness.
Sue is survived and dearly mourned by her children, Michael, Rebecca, and Samantha, her brothers, Steve (Debbie), Mike, and Bob (Judy), her sister, Sharon, and her second husband, Gary. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy, her siblings Ralph, Raymond, Russell, Butch, and Pat, her ex-husband Joe, and her beloved aunts and uncles.
Sue’s legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless lives she influenced. She leaves behind a garden of memories that will continue to blossom in the hearts of those who knew her.
The family warmly invites everyone to join them in a procession to Michigan Memorial, where a special pedal drop will be held in Sue's honor, weather permitting. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with funeral expenses or cherished memorial items. If you wish to send flowers, the family recommends Say It With Flowers in Allen Park or Michigan Memorial Florist, but any florist is appreciated. Additionally, any extra donations will be made to Brain Cancer Awareness. Sue also had a passion for unique automobiles, and the family would love to see her procession filled with these special cars and trucks.
