Stephen J. Simko
Simko, Stephen J. Age 88, of Taylor. February 3, 2014. Beloved husband of Jessie. Loving father of Maria (Don) LaPointe, Gloria Moore and Stephen (Phyllis) Simko. World War II veteran of the US Marine battle (the most horrendous in history) for the island of Iwo Jima. He was wounded, recovered, and returned to battle..... and was awarded the Purple Heart. Engineer for General Motors, fisherman, fruit orchard hobbyist, runner and champion weight lifter - last 1st prize won at age 78. His generous and gentle heart is forever loved by everyone. Guards of honor will present a 21 gun salute at services on Thursday.
