Stella N. Volonino

April 26, 1925 — August 10, 2018

Stella N. Volonino

Stella was the daughter of Rocco and Mary (Maruso) Tedeschi. She was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, but moved to Niagara Falls, New York at a young age. She married the love of her life, Marco Nick Volonino, on June 2, 1956. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 12, 1996. Stella was a longtime resident of Allen Park and had recently moved to senior living in Riverview. Her winters for the last 25 years were spent in Florida with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. While in Florida, she volunteered with the Council of the Aging and the American Heart Association. She also attended her grandson's many sporting and school activities. During the spring, summer and fall while in Michigan, she attended her granddaughter's many dance, sporting and school activities. She was very devoted to both of her grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Until the time of her death Stella attended Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton. Stella was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Allen Park (later merged and became Downriver UMC.) She was a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and very active in the many functions they hosted at Trinity. Her many hobbies included crafting which included ceramics, jewelry making, crocheting and knitting. She used her crocheting and knitting talents to make many prayer shawls and baby blankets that were donated to various nursing homes and shelters in the area. She also enjoyed cooking Italian specialty dishes. Stella leaves to cherish her memory her children: Deborah (James) Magnuson and Paul (Sandra) Volonino; as well as two grandchildren: Erica Magnuson and Hunter Volonino. She will be greatly missed by not only her family but her many friends in Michigan and Florida. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: Philomena Popovero, Beulah Gambino and Thomas Tedeschi. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Stella are asked to consider Faith United Methodist in Trenton or Downriver UMC in Taylor.
