Socorro Quintanilla

Socorro “Pita” Quintanilla (née Maldonado Olluela) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, in Southgate, MI at the age of 96, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, Mother’s Day.

She was born on January 27th, 1927 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico to the late Hermenegilda Olluela and Estanislado Maldonado.

She married Raul Quintanilla on August 26, 1954 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico.

Socorro is predeceased by daughter Carolina (Oct 1, 1971) and husband Raul (Oct 1, 1971) and survived by her 9 children: Sons Tomas (Giovanna) Quintanilla (children: Delilah, Ruben, Rafael), Raul (Tina) Quintanilla (children: Raul, Alicia, Christina), Rodolfo Quintanilla (children: Ricardo, Miguel), Ramiro (Silvia) Quintanilla (children: Damian, Julian, Jazmin); Daughters Ana Maria (Matt) Radomski (children: Efrain, Blanca), Dora (Esteban) Medina (children Moraima, Elida, Ileana, Melania), Celia (David) Ortega (children Carolina, Maria, Raul, Marisela), Esperanza Guerrero (children: Esmeralda, Lorena), Odilia (Juan) Arias (children Erika, Daniel, Andres); and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

Socorro's visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes - Allen Park Chapel, 10915 Allen Rd., Allen Park, Michigan.

Rosary service times are pending.

Her funeral service will be officiated by Fr, Ryan Adams and will be held (12:30 p.m.) Friday, May 19, 2023, at Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit, 1000 St. Anne St., Detroit, Michigan.

Soccoro will be laid to rest in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Wayne County, Michigan later that day.
