Shrilda "Shirley" Townsend

Townsend, Shrilda "Shirley" age 98 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Loving grandmother of Dianna (Bill) Standifer, Paul Turner Jr. of Buford, Georgia, Judy Turner, James (Karan) Turner, Toni Bean, and James Butler Jr. of Kissimmee, Florida. Shirley is survived by her 16 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and other loving family and friends. Sadly she was preceded in death by two daughters: Loretta May Skeens and Thelma Jean Skeens; two husbands; Lloyd Turner and Eugene Townsend; as well as 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She was a very dedicated member of Church of God, helping out in any way that she could. She enjoyed embroidering in her spare time and gave out the things she made as gifts to others. Shirley was "the best cook in the world." Shirley had a very loving and caring nature that her family and friends will miss dearly.
