Born in Detroit, Shirley was the daughter of George & Irene (Anderson) McGregor. She married the love of her life, Leonard Olsen, on June 23, 1956. They had been married for 51 years, before his death on November 7, 2007. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Shirley had worked as a Medical Assistant as well as other administrative positions throughout her life. She graduated from Schoolcraft College in Livonia with an Associate's Degree. She was a former member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Garden City. Her main joy in life was her family and raising her two daughters. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers, traveling and theater. In their retirement years, she and Leonard spent over 18 winters in Florida, enjoying close friendships with their fellow "snowbirds". Shirley is survived by her two daughters: Marsha (Tracy) Oberleiter of Monroe and Amy Olsen of Monroe; three grandchildren: Tabatha (Dan) Gentile, Tammy (Tony) Smith and Tally (Kirk) Beck; as well as three great grandchildren: Mackenzie Lawson, Matthew Lawson and Allysha Gentile, and her pet dog "Holly". In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother Donald McGregor and a sister Norma Donner. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Shirley's honor are asked to consider the Humane Society of Monroe County.
