Shirley E. Atkinson

Shirley E. Atkinson, of Allen Park, passed away April 3, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Edward T. Atkinson. Loving mother of Thomas (the late Judy), Gerald (Debra), the late Barb (Michael) Bray, Wendy (Dean) Nay, the late Douglas (Denise), Mary (Robert) Taylor, and the late James (Alicia). Cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Eric, Kathryn, Jason, Kevin, Heather, Jason, Jordan, Zachary, Rachel, Christopher, and Paul. Proud great grandmother of Arabella, Ella, Hanna, Joseph, Mariah, Brody, Cailey, Jaxon, Leah. Dear sister of the late Rosemary, Richard, the late Paul, Nancy, James, and Mary. Shirley is survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Gertrude Ridky.

Shirley has been a longtime member of St. Frances Cabrini and is an avid Detroit Tigers Fan.

Visitation will take place at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A rosary will begin at 7 pm. The service will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, where Shirley will lie in- state from 11:30am  until mass begins at 12:00 pm . Burial will take place immediately following at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
