Sheila J. Melms, of Riverview, passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2025 at the age of 63.

Beloved wife of LeRoy Melms III for 35 beautiful years. Sheila was a 1979 graduate of

Trenton High School, an employee of DTE for over 40 years where she recently retired in

2024, and owned Melms Painting with her husband for over 30 years serving many

downriver residents. In her free time, Sheila enjoyed taking care of others by cooking,

baking, organizing events, and lending support in any way she could. An avid dance fan,

she enjoyed following her great nieces’ performances at recitals and competitions. Also

prominent in her life was being a major fan of Grammy Award Winning musician, Jeff Beck.

Sheila helped create and manage the Jeff Beck Facebook fan page that currently has over

71K members with incredible passion, dedication, and tireless effort. Sheila held a special

place in her heart for Myrtle Beach (Apache Pier) and the family hopes to make a trip there

soon in her honor. She was an animal lover and provided a happy home to many dogs and

cats over her lifetime.

Sheila was the youngest of four children and is survived by sisters, Claudia (Shahriar)


Sullivan Ghafouri and Brenda Sullivan Warchulski, and brother, Bryan (Tina) Sullivan. Sister-

in-law of Debbie (Richard) Stewart, Steve (Connie) Melms, Bridget (Don) Schooley, and


Cindy Melms. Cherished aunt of Christopher (Mariah) Sullivan, Ashley (Jillian) Sullivan, Ian

(Alyssa) Sullivan, Frank Warchulski, Rich (Brenda) Stewart, and Sheila (Steve) Caggiano.

Proud great aunt of Owen, Dilynn, Josie, Lillian, Charlotte, Theodore, Justin (godson),

Ainsley, Ethan, Bella, and Anthony. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Fred and

Phyllis Sullivan as well as her in-laws Leroy Jr. and Nellie Melms.

A private memorial service for the immediate family will take place on Monday March 17th

.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sheila’s honor to the American Cancer Society,

Folly Wildlife Rescue (UK), or the Woodhaven-Trenton Animal Shelter.
