Sandra Lee Day

Sandra Lee Day, of Newport, passed away April 11, 2022. Sandra was born in Union City Tennessee on April 11, 1939. She graduated from Union City High School in 1957. She married Richard Day (deceased) on October 2, 1992. Loving mother of Robert (Holly) Black, the late Kendrick Black, Alicia (Robert Tibbetts) Black. Cherished grandmother of Justin, Eric, Jamie, Madison, Halie, and Gracie. Proud great grandmother of Jayce, Rylynn, Payton and Benjamin. Beloved sister of Brenda Gyure. Sandra worked as a hairdresser for many years, and owned her own salon. She established a very strong work ethic. Eventually she joined her husband in running Future Box Company in Detroit, MI. After selling the company, she moved to retail and worked at K-Mart and Meijer for many years. She worked full time at Meijer in Woodhaven up until her passing, she loved working with the people. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants. She would frequently attend bingo. She also had a love for animals. She was witty and spoke her mind when she needed to. She had a strong faith in God and was active throughout her life in the Baptist Community. Sandra truly appreciated life, and loved her family and friends deeply.
