Click on the tribute wall above to view Sally’s video tribute and service. Sally Centlivre, age 88, passed away peacefully April 12, 2020. Sally was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University in 1953. She taught first grade for two years before starting a family, transitioned to a dedicated homemaker, resident of Grosse Ile for 48 years, and a member of the Sacred Heart parish community. She enjoyed knitting/cross stitch, reading, neighborhood walks, volunteering at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, and traveling both nationally and internationally. She was dedicated to her extended familyand enjoyed attending all sorts of events involving grandkids…religious ceremonies, sporting events, birthday parties, recitals, and periodic family get-togethers. The onset of dementia impacted her involvement with those she cherished during the last several years. She was the daughter of Robert and Mary (Sullivan) Clifford. Sally married Charles F. Centlivre on June 8, 1954 and they were married for over 51 years. Sadly, he preceded her in death in February of 2006. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Badiac. Sally is survived by her sister Mary Ann Cottrell of Fort Wayne, IN, her children: Thomas (Mary Thereza) Centlivre of Plymouth, MI, Mike Centlivre and Suzanne Buchalski of Saline, MI, William (Carolina) Centlivre of Grosse Ile, MI, John (Beverly) Centlivre of Chesapeake, VA, Martha (Barry) McEachern of Allen Park, MI, Margaret (Frank) Caruana of Canton, MI, Andrew (Beth) Centlivre of Medina, OH, James (Angela) Centlivre of Grosse Ile, MI, and 16 grandchildren. In order for everyone to join Sally's family in celebrating her life, a service will be streaming live at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes Facebook page on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 3 pm or a support message can be submitted through her online obituary at Martenson.com. Memorial contributions in honor of Sally may be made to the Henry Ford Health System. .
