Ruth Alma Sisung

Born in Monroe, Ruth was the daughter of Frederick & Lillie (Masson) Sisung. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and then Eastern Michigan University with her Masters of Education Degree. Ruth spent her career teaching elementary school in various districts such as Warren Consolidated and Utica Community Schools, retiring in 1995. Ruth was very active with several organizations in both Michigan and Florida to include Alpha Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International; Elderhostles, Florida Humanities, MARSP, NEA and MEA. Her affiliations continue with Habitat for Humanity, the Central Florida Women's Club, St. Charles Catholic Church and Unity by the Lakes in Florida. Ruth contributed to many charitable organizations and people in need. She traveled to numerous countries including: Africa, Europe, Japan, China, Korea, Australia, South America, Canada and Mexico. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her nieces & nephews: Robert (Sue) Fix, Marianne (Richard) Echkoff, Michael (Debra) Fix, Jean Sisung-Gorski, Lynn Sisung, Kay (Ken) Nasrodi, Roger (Vickie) Brancheau, Harry (Eleanor Hughes) Brancheau, David (Linda)Brancheau, Martha (Joe) Niemczura, Margaret (Jim) Meehan, Carol (Steven) Spoerre, Dennis (Sheri) Sisung, Theresa (Everett) Broadwater, Joyce Sisung, Jeannie Sisung-Harris and Paul Sisung. Sadly she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Edwin Sisung, Melvin Sisung and Norman Sisung; three sisters: Bernice Fix, Phyllis Ambos and Frances Brancheau; as well a two nephews: Dale Fix, Frederick Sisung and a niece Judy Sisung. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation.
