Carnahan, Roy Dennis. Age 74. October 3, 2013 of Allen Park. Beloved husband of 54 years to Selma. Loving dad of Sandra (Jeffrey) Barnes, Kathleen St. Pierre, Pamela Dyer and Kevin Carnahan. Proud grandpa of 10. Great grandpa of 10. Also survived by 1 sister Dorothy Grahl as well as other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Amon and Maude (nee: Browning) Carnahan, 2 sisters Lola Paull and Opal Hampton and his beloved poodle Ceasar. Memorial contributions to honor his memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association Roy D. Carnahan .. my father passed away today. After a long battle with Alzheimer`s he is now in a better place. He was a good FATHER and a very hard worker. He always put food on the table and provided all the extra things needed to keep my family happy and comfortable. He was a good friend to many, always lending a helping hand. He would go out of his way to help other people. He mainly had one job, worked for the Detroit News from the time he was a kid as a paperboy, till he retired as the manager of all the papers for Howell. If you knew him he was very kind. Never wanted to hurt anyone or anything. I remember when I was younger we would go on hunting trips. Plenty of opportunities to shoot some pheasants.. always remember him saying let that one fly away.. too small... or on fishing trips.. better throw that one back in the water.. we will catch it again next year when it gets bigger. Several years of hunting trips, same responses every time. He was a lover of nature and animals. He was a smart man, bought older houses and fixed them up for the family, or built homes from the ground up. He never lost money on a real estate transaction, and always created beautiful homes. He was extremely handy, could fix pretty much anything from cars to any household item. He was a creator of art and he would be considered today as a master woodworker. He was the type of person that would make you something as a gift, instead of buying you something. Those gifts are still cherished by the family today. He was a funny man, always had a joke to tell or tried to put a smile on your face. I would say he surrounded the family with laughter and love. My Mother, Sisters, Nieces, Nephews and the rest of the family appreciate all the kind words we have received so far. Anyone who has anything to share, please do so on this post. Roy D. Carnahan 10/25/37 - 10/3/13
