Rosamond (Rosie) Ann. Age 81, July 22 in her home in Trenton surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Peter for 58 romance-filled years. Dear mother of daughters Annette Haley (Paul) and Dr. Amy Johnson (Tom), and sons Alec, Arthur (Lynn) and former Trenton City Councilman Andrew. Also survived by eight favorite grandchildren and three adored great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy (Pluff) Thommen. Her mother's ancestors were early French settlers in Rockwood and her father's ancestors were Swiss mercenary soldiers for the Americans during the Revolutionary War. Rosie was born in her parent's home on Fourth Street and Atwood in Trenton, and graduated with the Trenton High School Class of 1946 with many classmates who served Trenton so well over the years. She was the first generation Thommen to graduate from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marygrove College in Detroit in 1950. She taught Home Economics in the Allen Park school district before becoming a homemaker. Rosie and Pete were founding members of St. Timothy's Church in Trenton in 1957; she helped start their funeral brunch program and was active in the Altar Society. She and the late Mary Lou Peacock hand-stitched all the Altar clothes and funeral pall still in use today. Rosie was an active member of the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG) and the Monguagon Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America (EGA); she was honored with the 1995 Educator's Award of Excellence at the National Conference in Denver. Her needlework commemorating the November 2000 Space Shuttle Endeavor Mission is on display at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. She enjoyed world travel and was the last member of her family to visit Paris last year. Her spirit will live on in her many friends, large family and favorite recipes
