Rosa Maria Gonzalez

Rosa M. Gonzalez-Troche Rosa was born on November 30, 1939 and died peacefully at home on June 27, 2021 at the age of 81. Rosa was born, raised, and lived most of her life, until recently, in Puerto Rico. Originally from Mayaguez, stayed a few years in San Juan, until she moved to Michigan in 2020. Cherished mother of Yzzy (Jacob) and Albert (Rosi); Rosa was a devoted and hardworking mother, a “Mama Gallina”, always putting her children’s welfare before her own. She did much with little and she was her kids’ biggest cheerleader encouraging them to always dream big and persevere. Beloved sister of Quique (Irma), Junior (Nany), and Candy (Hector). Proud Alowita/Abuita of Joce, Gino, Miranda, and Lia. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved, and many other loving cousins, relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Maria and Lalo, and her aunts and uncles. Known to many as Tita, Rosa was a graduate of Hostos High School, Class of 1957, with a Marketing & Distribution emphasis, and worked for over 40 years in retail. She was a very creative person with an artistic flair and took up painting in her later years. Old San Juan was her favorite place in the entire world. Per Rosa’s wishes, there will be no services or funeral. She will be cremated, and her ashes taken to Puerto Rico. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital can be made in her name or a flowering tree or bush (white flowers were her favorite) can be planted in her memory, at anyone’s discretion. Rosa will be greatly missed by many!
