Wobig, Roger I of Howell, and formerly of Allen Park and Fenton passed away peaceful with his wife and family at his side on January 10,2019 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born in Allen Park MI on June 30,1940 the youngest son of the late Allen and Mary (Irvine) Wobig. he is survived by his loving wife Sue, his son Roger W (Laura) Wobig, granddaughter Brittany Wobig, and grandson Nicholas Ryan, sisters-in-law Janet Wobig, and nephews Kurt (Theresa) Wobig, Eric Wobig and Bret Tousiant.
Roger was preceded in death by his first wife Donna, brother Allen Wobig, stepson Michael and his wife Jacqueline Ryan.
He attended Allen Park schools and graduated from Allen Park High School in 1958.where he played basketball and football.
He served in the US Army as an MP and a cook.
Roger joined the Allen Park Police Department in 1964 where he obtained the rank of corporal and retired in 1988.
Following retirement he married Susan Ryan and they moved to Fenton where he enjoyed swimming, riding his tractor and feeding and watching his deer.
After Sue’s retirement they moved to Howell where they had an active retirement life.
Roger will be remembered for his love of life and family, his humor, colorful metaphors, great meals and beautifully designed woodworking. One of his favorite saying was
“ Whoo-da-christ would drink that “.
He will also be remembered by his fellow APPD officers for the limerick.
