Rodney Art Scarberry

Rodney was born May 31, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, the third child and only son of Grover and Allie (Adkins) Scarberry. Surviving is his loyal wife, Marsha (Kish) Scarberry. They were together 50 years, married in Riverview, Michigan in 1977. Loving father of daughters, Dawnell, Shawn and only son, Rodney Brett. He will be missed by 7 grandchildren, Scott, Mark, Alex, PJ, Elizabeth, Kayla and Keira. Rodney also leaves great grandchildren, Wyatt, Padme, Kynlee, Jesse, Maggie, Naomi, Jaxon and the late Dante. He will be remembered by sisters Kathleen (the late Billy Joe) Spicer, Gloria “Cookie” (Rob) Hickey, Cynthia Scarberry and a very important person in his life, sister – in -law Elaine Kish Shrewsburg. Predeceased by his parents, Father – in – law and mother – in – law Stephen and Thelma (Fryer) Kish. Much love to special nephew, Martin Spicer, extraordinary cousins, Joe, Ray and Jimmy and longtime friend Richard Howey. Rodney also leaves a multitude of well-loved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was always there to listen, bounce ideas off, and have a lively exchange of points of view. Ask for help or advice and he was in! Baseball, softball, pinball, bowling, playing Frisbee, pool, trips to any casino, and playing cards (especially in a one-on-one duel with his father-in-law Steve) made up the varied interests of Rodney’s life. He also took great pleasure in doing yard work in 90-degree heat, much to the dismay of his “helper” Marsha. Add to this, his love of travel. Whether it be with Marsha or a carload of children, grandchildren and friends, he was ready to roll. Some of his favorite trips were to Las Vegas, the US Southwest, Cooperstown, the Toledo Zoo and Greenfield Village. Rodney was a dog lover. He will be missed by his furbabies, Chico and Molly. He has now been reunited with Shep, Gypsy, Sparky, Molly, Amber, Lucky and Delilah. There will be no formal service at this time but there are plans for a family and friends Memorial Picnic at Elizabeth Park in Trenton this summer at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.
