Robert Kerwin Gibson II, a Southgate Michigan resident, died at the age of 41 years on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Robert was known to most as Bob. His parents are Theresa Gibson and Bruce Fountain. Bob entered this world with a smile on his face on March 2, 1983 in Rogers City, Michigan. He became a witty, independent thinker early on.
From the time he was a toddler Bob loved baseball. When he was just four years old he unofficially changed his name to Alan in honor of the Detroit Tigers' player Alan Trammell. Bob would only answer to the name Alan for an entire year. In 1989 Bob began attending every Tiger opening game. As an avid Tigers fan he attended 35 Tigers opening games. His one regret was that he never caught a home run ball.
As a 2001 Bear Lake graduate, Bob was proud to tell everyone that he graduated in the top 10 of his class. He conveniently left out the fact that there were only 12 students in his graduating class. Bob loved the movies Top Gun and Lady and the Tramp so much that his mother says that he has watched them more times than anyone in the world.
In his twenties Bob spent his summers working at Cedar Point in Ohio where he met the "love of his life", his best friend Kevin Michael Rowe. Bob worked a number of other jobs until he found his home at Best Buy. It was here where he met an amazing work family and performed a job that gave him pride and fulfillment.
Bob enjoyed music. He not only collected and listened to old vinyl LPs, he also shared his talent of playing the guitar and bass as a member of many local bands including Shiver Me Timbers, The HandMe Downs, Aggro or Die!, Full Monty, You Dirty Rat, SharkFist and St. Thomas Boys Academy.
Bob and Tina met at The Biergarten in February 2010 surprisingly sharing common friends and family connections. Shortly after this encounter they began dating. This courtship led to them eloping to Tennessee where they married on 11-11-11. They adopted two special fur babies: Ursula and Mowgli. For the last 13 years they have enjoyed traveling together, games, annoying one another and spending time with family and friends.
Sadly, on the morning of October 7, 2024, Bob unexpectedly took his last breath on the earth leaving behind many broken hearts. He is loved deeply and will be missed.
Bob is survived by his wife Christina "Tina" Cline, fur babies Ursula and Mowgli, mother Theresa Gibson, father Bruce Fountain (Donna), brothers: Michael Idalski (Tyler), Riley Gibson-Bunnell (Hannah); grandmother Meredith Fountain, mother-in-law Catherine Cline, father-in-law Michael Cline, sister-in-law Carrie Cline (Jafer), niece Talia and many more aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his grandparents: Margaret Lynch, Robert Kerwin Gibson I and James Fountain.
