Robert Emmet Conway, age 95 of Woodhaven, MI was called home by God surrounded by his family on January 25,2025. He was the beloved husband to his wife Catherine (Phillips) of 57 years since February 24, 1968.
Devoted dad to Robert Del Signore (Lynn Belloma), Susan (Mike) Almendinger, Audre (Michael) Bollo, and Matthew (Jennifer) Conway. He was a cherished grandfather known as Pa to Dillon (Stephanie), Emily (Dallas), Mario, Logan (Kala), Justin, Brooke, Jacob, Griffin, and Reaghan. A great grandfather, Pa, to Trevor, Elijah, Aria, Addison, and Riley. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-law Bob Pipoly and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Akron Ohio on January 12,1930, he was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Elizabeth (Bliley) Conway, his sister Carol Getzinger, his brother-in-law Tom Getzinger, and his youngest sister Ann Pipoly. His son in law David Hulit also preceded him in death.
Bob graduated from St. Vincent St. Mary’s high school in Akron, Ohio and then received a bachelor’s in business from Akron University where he was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Bob was a mentor and a coach to many. He enjoyed coaching soccer, softball, and basketball. He proudly served his country in the Marines during the Korean War. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending any activity in which they were participating. He always made time for them. Bob was a faithful member at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held Friday January 31, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Trenton Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Road Trenton, MI 48183. Rosary service will take place at 5:30 pm. Military Honors will take place at 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025. It will start at 10 am and will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church 2565 3rd St, Trenton, MI 48183. He will lie in state at 9:30 am. Burial will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI.
