Robert "Bob" Chapman

Robert “Bob” Chapman, age 91 of South Rockwood, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 in his home.

Born July 31, 1931 in Wyandotte, Bob was the son of Delmont and Irene (Braun) Chapman Jr. A 1950 graduate of Monroe High School, he then attended Michigan State College School of Agriculture. Bob married the love of his life, Shirley Shetterly, on December 18, 1954. A lifelong farmer he served on the Farm Service Committee for Monroe County; served 21 years on the American Sheep Producers Council for Michigan and Wisconsin; was a past member of the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association and a member of Monroe County 4H, where he served as Superintendent of Sheep for 56 years. Bob also had served on the Airport Community School Board of Education and was a faithful member of the South Rockwood United Methodist Church, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory, Shirley, his wife of the past 68 years; children: Mark (Debra) Chapman, Delmont Lee (Marianne) Chapman and Robert E. (Kelly) Chapman; seven grandchildren: Clint (Madison) Chapman, Charles (Kellyn) Chapman, Bryant Chapman, Brad Chapman, Lee Chapman, Mackenzie Chapman and Reece Chapman; as well as a great grandson Elias Chapman and a daughter-in-law Beth Chapman. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents; a son Gary Chapman and two siblings: Delmont Chapman III and Sally Heiss.

Memorial contributions in honor of Bob may be made to the South Rockwood United Methodist Church or the Monroe County Junior Livestock Scholarship Fund.
