Rita Whalen

Rita Whalen, of Trenton, passed away January 14, 2023. Loving wife of Richard Whalen for 63 beautiful years. Dear mother of Teresa Dew, Rick (Anita) Whalen, Ron (Deborah) Whalen and Gina Tomblin. Cherished grandma of Dan Dew, Nick Dew, Chris Whalen, Courtney Whalen, Jessica Nulph, Rebecca Simm , and Rylee Tomblin. Proud great grandma of Mackenzie Kremer, Preston Nulph, and Paetyn Nulph. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Pagnucco, and her siblings, Sisto and Victor.

Rita loved going to the casino. She was a passionate caregiver at the nursing homes during her career. She was devoted to her catholic faith and attended St. Cyprian Catholic Church. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church until eight grade and then transferred to Riverview High School. She married Richard at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will take place at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes – Trenton Chapel on Thursday January 19th from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A vigil service will take place at 7:30 pm. Friday January 20, 2023 Rita will lay instate at St. Cyprian Catholic Church from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 10:00 am. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
