Richard James Simons

Click on the tribute wall above to view Richard's video tribute. Richard James Simons, born March 3, 1950, passed away May 7, 2021. Beloved husband to Mary Ann Simons. Loving dad to Richard James Simons Jr. (Ellen) Simons, Jennifer (Jason) Winters and Jessica (Brett) Mitchell. Proud grandpa to Hannah Simons, Jacob Simons, Nathan Mitchell and Blake Mitchell. Dear brother to Karen (Jim) Estill, Clayton (Beverly) Simons, Kenneth (Brenda) Simons, Thomas (Ruby) Simons and John (Cynthia) Simons. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Marjorie Ruthven Simons, and his brother Michael Simons. Richard retired from Ford Motor Company and served on the Flat Rock Fire Department for 22 years. He loved to hunt, fish and cheer for Detroit sports teams. He played many sports, but enjoyed coaching multiple football teams. He was a true University of Michigan Fan. When he could he would go camping with friends and family but was fascinated by meteorology. To those attending visitation and/or services at the funeral home for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel must be followed and will be enforced.
