Richard Elwood Bressler, age 88, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Richard was born September 11, 1936 to the late Elwood and Evelyn (Johnson) Bressler. A lifelong Monroe and Newport resident, he was a dedicated member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Richard received his education with Airport High School graduating in 1955. Richard worked at Great Lakes Steel before proudly serving in the United States Navy. After returning home he worked at Boylon Plumbing in Newport, Monroe Plumbing and Heating, owned and operated Bressler Heating and Cooling, and was the Township Inspector.
Richard enjoyed Detroit Tigers Baseball, collecting antique farm equipment, restoring antiques with his family and friends and going to antique tractor shows. He enjoyed working on the family farm, playing euchre and anytime spent with his family and friends. Especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He married the love of his life, Delores Elaine Masserant, November 5, 1960. Loving father of Barbara George, Robert (Dawn) Bressler, and Donna Estrada, all of Newport. Proud grandfather of Robert Bressler Jr., Kevin Bressler, Kristin (Derek) Allison, Jason (Jacqui) George, Megan (Kyle) Denton, Autumn Bressler, Nicole Estrada, Jennifer Estrada and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at The Allore Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00pm. A rosary will take place at 7 pm. Burial and military honors will take place at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Newport, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will take place immediately following at Dick and Dolly’s homestead with desserts and refreshments provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St Charles Borromeo Catholic School or Parkinson’s Foundation.
