Reynaldo E. Rodriguez

Reynaldo “Ray” Rodriguez, of Allen Park, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023. Born December 8, 1931, Ray wed Maria Peunte in 1951 and remained her beloved husband for 71 beautiful years. The dear father of Richard, Elizabeth, and David (Melissa); proud grandfather of Paula (Rob), Adam (Saige), and Laura (Chase); and great grandfather of Byram and Autumn, Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Isabel, and his brothers, Jose, Pedro, and Alfred. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ray leaves a legacy of service and joy. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, served his community through volunteer work with his church and the Meals on Wheels organization, and served his family with unfailing dedication, generosity, and love. Ray and Maria enjoyed an active social life in Michigan as well as Florida, where they spent the winter months as part of a close-knit retirement community for 30 years. They loved to dance and travel together, especially enjoying Navy ship reunions with others who served with Ray on the USS Newport News. Family and friends will treasure memories of Ray’s sense of humor – his laughter, love of telling jokes, and appreciation for gag gifts.

Visitation will be held at the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes - Allen Park Chapel on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 2:00pm-9:00pm. A rosary will start at 6:00 pm. The visitation will continue Friday, June 23, 2023 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic church from 9:30 until the funeral mass at 10:00 am . Entombment will take place at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
