In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society THE STORY OF MOM AND DAD The story of mom and dad as told to us very proudly by our Mother. It was 1944 at a movie theater in Detroit where a Frank Sinatra movie was playing. Our Mother, her friend Lucy and our Aunt Margaret were sitting in their seats waiting for the movie to start. The story went like this: There was a kid named Dino, who was with his cousin Renato, who sat down in the seats behind them. Dino, who knew our Aunt Margaret, jumped over the seat and sat down next to her to talk. It could have been about the war or other teenage talk. Then, the other good looking 16 year old boy (who resembled Frank Sinatra), jumped over the seat and sat down next to our future Mother. They began to talk, and after the movie, our Dad asked if he could see her again. Our Mother said "yes", "however, you have to come to my house and meet my parents first. Our Mom said she wouldn't have it any other way. She was only 15 at the time. I can certainly understand this because her parents, our Grandparents, were raising three Very Beautiful young girls. Our Dad, who lived on the East Side of Detroit, must have known that this was the love of his life. In order to see his future bride and meet her parents, he had to take three different busses to get from Detroit to Redford. Unlike today, many families did not have telephones. Our Dad had to call one of our Mom's neighbors, and have them go find our Mom to take his calls. For the next six years they dated and finished their educations. There was a brief intermission when he was drafted into the Army. On our Mom's graduation day, he gave her a diamond ring and asked her to marry him. And now, here we are five kids and 63 years later. Now if that isn't True Love, I don't know what is! (please view the family pictures in the community photo section) Here's a little tidbit - dad americanized his name when he joined the Army - his high school diploma says "Renato Muzzin"
