Born in South Rockwood, Randy was the son of John and Marcella (Gaynier) Rapai. After receiving his high school diploma and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at the University of Michigan, Randy worked as an accountant for Ford Motor Company for over 33 years, retiring in 2007. He was then hired back as a consultant for Ford for several years. Outside of his dedication to his career, Randy enjoyed sports, camping, state parks, working in his yard, golfing, bowling and tall ships. His love of sports grew from playing on the Monroe Catholic Central 1969 state championship football team as middle linebacker. His children counted on him for his guidance, thorough research and encouragement throughout their lives. Randy will be missed by his friends and family who were impacted by his hard-working, gentle, patient, playful and humble legacy. Randy's memory will be cherished by his children: Jason (Lauren) Lew-Rapai of Orange County, California, Nathan (Kaitlyn Hill) Rapai of Berkley and Asia (Matthew Dotson) Rapai of Wyandotte; and the mother of his children Peggy Rapai of Monroe; as well as his siblings: Sandra (Gregory) Schluge of Afton, Virginia, Dr. Joseph (Kathy Vreeland) Rapai of Brighton, Robin Rapai of Villa Park, Illinois and Rusty (Laura) Rapai of Carleton. Randy was the devoted son of John and Marcella Rapai of South Rockwood, who preceded him in death. Donations can be made to the Michigan State Parks in honor of Randy and his family's love for camping. A celebration of Randy's life will take place Thursday, February 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the IHM Motherhouse Community Room, 610 W. Elm Ave., Monroe.
