Click on tribute wall above to view Ralph's memorial video. Ralph A. Bolden On Wednesday September 22nd, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, Ralph A Bolden passed away peacefully at the Beaumont Oakwood Hospital. Ralph was born October 14th, 1942 in Duquesne, PA. Ralph was raised by mother, Josephine and stepfather William Brown, along with father, William Henry Bolden. Ralph spent his childhood being a typical youth – he was as curious and mischievous, as he was smart. He graduated at the top of his class from Duquesne High School. Here’s to first- Ralph was the first person in his family to pursue a post-secondary education. Ralph earned an Accounting degree from Point Park College. Ralph married Geneva Bolden and had two sons Lance and Eric Bolden. In 1971 Ralph moved his family to Michigan in furtherance of his career with the Limbach company. The traditional workforce was not for Ralph. He believed in creating and nurturing his own path. His spirit was that of an entrepreneur. After leaving Limbach he launched several successful businesses while dedicating himself to community advocacy and supports via The Urban League. In the late 70s Ralph served the Pontiac Area Urban League as President and later as Chairman of the Board. For 25 years Ralph fought for the equality of African Americans, other minorities, and the disadvantaged. During an interview with the Oakland Press Ralph said, “I have a pure love of giving to the community and to help others.” Ralph had a big heart that only got bigger! One of his greatest joys in life was being donned Pappap. It was Ralph and his granddaughters against the world. If you saw him, you saw Eresha, Olivia, Arykah, and Ariah. These days the term family man is not appreciated enough. Often the emphasis is put on who we are and what we accomplish. Ralph showed us all, how great, and selfless it is to put family first. If Ralph was not enjoying delicious victuals at Gauchos Brazilian Steakhouse with Eresha and Olivia, you could find him perusing the local art galleries. He was always fascinated by the expression of human creative skill and imagination. Queue Sunday- Ralph enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers with the volume on high; he never missed a game. Pappap we love you. We always have, we always will! Ralph Bolden is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Josephine and William Brown; His father William Henry Bolden; & his brother Nathan Brown. Ralph is survived by his children Lance Bolden & Eric Bolden; daughter in love Greta Fisher; granddaughters Eresha, Olivia, Arykah, & Ariah; great-granddaughter Kenzli Robinson; and sisters Carmen (Henry) Milton & Vera (Michael) Kelly.
