Phyllis Lee Lory Phyllis Lee (Packard) Lory of Trenton, Michigan is now at peace and in the warm embrace of her Creator having passed away on March 4, 2017 in Houston, Texas at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Phyllis was born in Traverse City, Michigan on June 22, 1925 to Lee and Hazel Packard. She married her husband, Ray, at St Joseph Church in Trenton, Michigan in 1946. Throughout her life, Phyllis was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished and valued the many fiends she made in her 91 years. She will now be joined in Heaven by those she loved including her parents, Lee and Hazel Packard, her husband Raymond Nelson Lory, sisters Muriel Hullett and June Kinney, her daughter-in-law Sally Lory and the many cherished friends that predeceased her. She leaves behind her sons Michael of Clanton, AL, Barry and wife Marlene of Callawassie, SC, Scott and wife Sharon of Houston, TX and daughter, Jan and husband Ershel of Houston, TX.; grandchildren Ershel (Skip) and wife Casey, Lori and husband Bobby, Emily and husband Mario and Elizabeth and husband Justin, Trevor and Devon; and six great grandchildren, Etta Rae Huffman, Mary Clare Huffman, Kingsley Bea Redd, Caroline Lory Redd, Robbie Huffman and Abbey Redd. Also, Chris and Amy Robinette, which are like daughters to her. She is also survived by numerous relatives and friends. Phyllis will always be remembered for her engaging smile, her hearty laugh and her constant kindness toward anyone she met. She never met a stranger. She was a proud member of the Harold J Chatell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 426 having served in many capacities from Unit President in 1952-1953 to National Vice President in 1969-1970 . She was an active volunteer in her community having served in many organizations within the city of Trenton, MI., including Trenton Days, Trenton Cultural Center, the Trenton Garden Club, St Joseph Parish and many more. She was confirmed in the Catholic faith at St Joseph Church, was married there, sent her children to school there, saw her daughter married there and remained a faithful parishioner until she became ill in 2013. Phyllis was an independent minded, well organized and strong woman who was up to any challenge put before her. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 25 at 9:30 AM in the back of St Timothy Catholic Church located at 2901 Manning, Trenton, MI. A funeral Mass will celebrate her life at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Tom Fritz, Larry Janes, Frank Keller, Steve Keller, Ershel C. (Skip) Redd, III and Patrick Seins. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Past President Parley Registered Nurses Scholarship, 212 N. Verlinden Ave., Lansing, MI 48915.
