Phyllis A. Kuehn

Phyllis Ann Kuehn age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 21, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Phyllis was born on Good Friday, April 3, 1931 - a special 30th birthday present to her mother. She spent her childhood in Southwest Detroit, one of eight children to Adolf and Mary Kuhn. Her dream of becoming a nurse was realized after graduating Wayne State University in 1954 which allowed her to pursue a career in public health nursing focusing on women and children’s health. After college she also pursued another interest, a gentleman named Dale J. Kuehn and after they were married in April 1958, she let everyone know that she added an “E” to her maiden name of Kuhn for all Eternity. Dale and Phyllis were blessed with 4 children and although they didn’t have a lot of material wealth, there was an abundance of love and family times that usually centered around fishing. Phyllis loved to sing and her talent was used in the choir at St.Paul’s Lutheran Church in Trenton, MI. where she was a long time member. Phyllis and Dale enjoyed retirement years at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Dale. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Mike) Pickens, Dale ( Patti) Kuehn, Jim ( Kelly) Kuehn, Jeff (Wendy) Kuehn and grandchildren, Nate, Jason, Aaron, Rachael, Jacob, Danielle, Connor, Emily, Adam, Leah, Kara and her brother David. Her constant canine companion Scrappy Do also survives. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the compassionate care she received during her final weeks. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or St. Paul’s Lutheran church- music ministry. Visitation at Martenson’s Funeral Home 1pm -8pm on Sunday, November 27th 2022 ; Celebration of Life Service on November 28th, 2022 at 9 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Trenton, MI.
