Cherished grandma of Jen (Kevin), Emily (Justin), Nick (Lauren), Mallory (Nick), Jasmine, Matt (Nicole), Marc (Jamie), Adam (Amanda), Nathan (Jessica), Neland (Melissa), Natalie, and Nikki. Dear great-grandma of Alice, Caleb, Isaac, Gus, Charlie, Atticus, Chloe, Stella, Jack, Sophia, Kylie, Kloie, Abigail, Aubrey, James, John, and Josie. Peggy was preceded in death by her siblings Walter, Rita, and Jeanann, her daughter-in-law Melodee Gaynier, her grandson Ryan Gaynier, and her granddaughter-in-law Kelly Gaynier. Peggy will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends. Peggy was born on October 15, 1933, in South Rockwood, MI. She was the daughter of Julius and Hazel (Grundman) Elliott. She married Milo Gaynier on March 31, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockwood, MI. Their first home was in Taylor, MI. As their family started to grow, they moved to Trenton where they lived for 65 years, until recently moving to Hampton Manor of Woodhaven. Peggy’s fulltime job was raising 9 children with Milo. She was very efficient when it came to cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and doing the laundry for such a large family. Peggy always said that she could take 2 chickens and make meals that lasted a week. As the kids grew older, Peggy started volunteering at Seaway Hospital’s gift shop, which she enjoyed doing for many years. She eventually became president of the Seaway Auxiliary. In 1995, Peggy was honored with a Women of Distinction Award from the Soroptimist International of Trenton for her voluntary activities at Seaway Hospital. Once all their children were grown and on their own, Peggy and Milo started taking many trips to different countries in Europe and numerous cruises with friends. They also walked across the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day, which they made an annual event with their friends. Peggy loved listening to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. She had a large collection of records which were always being played in her home. She loved to read and belonged to several book clubs with her friends. During the summer months, Peggy would meet several of her friends every Wednesday at Elizabeth Park in Trenton. They would bring their lunches, sit, and talk for hours. Some of Peggy’s favorite things were shopping, eating hot dogs, Hershey candy bars and her most favorite was enjoying a Tim Horton’s Iced Cappuccino. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. As Peggy got older, kids who lived on Heatherhill street would call her grandma, too. Peggy lived a very full, active, and productive life. She will truly be missed by anyone who knew her. Visitation for Peggy will take place on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Road, 48183.
