Opal Vance

Opal Vance, 89 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Born August 4, 1932 in Paynesville, West Virginia, Opal was the daughter of Harrison and Rhoda Mullins. A graduate of Iaeger High School, she married the love of her life, Lonnie Vance, on February 10, 1950 and moved to Monroe the same year. Sadly he preceded her in death in 1993. Opal attended Bethany Eagles Nest Community Church and loved her Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Studies. She enjoyed gardening and canning her fruits and vegetables. She was a wonderful homemaker and her most treasured times were Sunday Dinners and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. Opal leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter Kate (Richard) McDevitt; grandchildren: Ryan (Anna) McDevitt, Amber (Nicholas) Boggs and Justin (Angela) McDevitt; as well as three great grandchildren: Kaylianna Boggs, Elijah Boggs, and Easton Boggs. She also will be missed her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings: her dearest sister Maggie Mullins, and brothers Lawson Mullins, Vester Mullins and Okey Mullins and a precious nephew: Thurman Mullins. A private service and burial have taken place.
