Norman T. Trudell

“My Dad” by Ellen Trudell

Norman Thomas Trudell was born on January 19, 1949 in Detroit and raised in Southwest Detroit, where he spent his childhood and early adulthood, and also where he met his beloved wife of 41 years, Karin.

A lover of sports and comic books from a young age, Norman - often called Norm by his friends and family - was full of curiosity and the urge to learn. As he got older, this led to his being an avid and voracious reader, a student of history, an encyclopedia of sports knowledge, and a source of some of the most random trivia information imaginable, in the best and most reliable way.

His career was spent on the assembly line for General Motors, and while he liked cars, his heart truly belonged to the Corvette.

Norman continued his married and family life in Allen Park, Mich. as an involved member of the community, particularly at Allen Park High School where he volunteered on Friday nights with the football team as part of the stadium crew.

A lifelong football enthusiast, and particularly the Detroit Lions, is something he shared with his daughter Ellen. A fan of all local sports, Norman also was a passionate hockey and Detroit Red Wings fan. He also loved a good view of the water, a great piece of prime rib and going to the movies.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Norman Joseph Trudell and Irma Lucille Trudell. He is survived by his wife Karin, daughter Ellen, sister LouAnn Drummond, brother-in-law John Drummond, niece Cathy Drummond and nephew Shawn Drummond.
