Norman Bomia

Norman Bomia, 95, of La Salle passed away July 7, 2017 at St. Vincent's Hospital. Born November 7, 1921 in Monroe, he was the son of Roy C. and Myrtle (Dusseau) Bomia. A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and W.W.II. While in the service, he married Stella Moore with whom he had five children. September 26, 1980, Norm married Jane Pickett. He drove truck for Great Lakes Trucking, Joe Duffy, and Jones Transfer, retiring in 1982. Norm was a member of VFW Post 1138 and Monroe Senior Citizen. He loved making "gadgets" having made and given away over 3,000 hillbilly switch blades. He also made polish electric chain saws, money clips, and other things. He is survived by his wife Jane, his sons Ferl (Denice), Duane, Chris (Jeri), and daughters Donna Bomia and Yvonne Moore. Three step children Barbara Pickett, Christopher Pickett, and Beth (Bob) Hospadaruk. Three sisters Ellen Kettinger, Rose (John) LaChance and Mary (Tom) Skinlo. Thirteen grand children, three step-grand children and sixteen great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Irla and Leroy, a sister Jean Darby and infant daughter, Grace. Visitation in honor of Norman will be held Monday July 10, 2017 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and Tuesday July 11, 2017 from 10:00am until 7:00pm with a funeral service at 7:00pm at the Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be directly donated to Monroe Senior Citizens.
